In order to help ensure the safety of employees in the workplace, Safe Work Australia (SWA) was established as a Statutory Agency in November 2009, under the Safe Work Australia Act 2008. The agency helps to shape WHS (work health and safety) policies and undertakes research in order to contribute to the development of healthy and safe workplaces.
The Commonwealth and individual state and territory governments regulate their particular WHS laws. For information regarding your jurisdiction’s regulations, contact your WHS regulator.
One area treated in the WHS laws are regulations regarding personal protective equipment (PPE). Learn about the types and what is available for the required needs of all work situations. The Workers Shop specialises in providing PPE, whether the job requires protection for hearing, vision, or breathing, or for working from heights or extreme temperature exposure.
