Providing quality wear for casual, work and play since 1972, Stubbies is a brand that was introduced by clothing manufacturer Edward Fletcher and Co., a company that had been in business since 1939.
Their signature short was developed in response to the vision of a stylish, low-cost, all-purpose “short short.” There was some difficulty choosing a name for the new short, until one of the company salesmen stood up in frustration, announcing his desire to go out for a “stubbie,” Australia’s favourite drink.
Inspiration hit and the beloved short was given the name “stubbie.” It is now a part of the Australian culture – “the little shorts for the big jobs.”
